PPS is specifically about how to change inflammation. To change inflammation, you simply use the tissue inflammation creates: scar tissue. 

As you learn with PPS, scar tissue forms for more reasons than just injury. It can be found on top of boney landmarks and large fascial planes for support as much as healing.

Because it choses these anchors, it will impact where muscles attach to those bones and then ultimately change what muscles can or cannot do.

When you can reduce or change scar tissue in a positive way, it automatically changes muscles - sometimes without ever touching them. 

Scar tissue is bound to certain biological behaviors, rules, and actions in the body. Understanding of those principles allows a hands-on therapist to be more successful with changing scar tissue binding and therefore change muscle contraction.
